About Skilltailor
Skilltailor is an independent resource hub for HR professionals, job coaches, and workforce development teams building skills-first organisations.
Why we built this
The HR and workforce development space is full of content - but most of it is written by vendors trying to sell software, or by generalists recycling frameworks they haven't tested in practice. Practitioners making real decisions about hiring processes, workforce programs, and software selection deserve better.
Skilltailor is built to be that better resource: evidence-based, practitioner-focused, and honest about what works and what doesn't. Every guide we publish is grounded in how these disciplines actually operate - not how vendors would like you to think they operate.
Who we serve
Our primary readers are:
- In-house HR teams building or improving hiring, development, and internal mobility programs
- Job coaches and employment counsellors working directly with candidates navigating the labour market
- Workforce development professionals designing and running employment programs - often in government, non-profit, or community settings
- HR technology buyers evaluating software for recruiting, skills management, or workforce development
Built by Clickwebb
Skilltailor was built by Clickwebb, a SaaS development agency specialising in building custom web platforms and applications. Clickwebb works with organisations that have outgrown off-the-shelf software or have workflows that commercial products don't address.
The same team built Talecto, an AI-powered applicant tracking system designed for skills-based hiring. Talecto emerged from first-hand experience with the limitations of keyword-based ATS systems - and the belief that matching candidates to roles should be based on actual competencies, not resume formatting.
The expertise behind both Talecto and Skilltailor comes from years of building hiring and workforce tools for clients with demanding requirements: government employment programs, staffing agencies, high-growth startups scaling their talent function, and established organisations rethinking how they develop and retain people.
What we publish
Skilltailor publishes practical guides across four areas:
- Talent acquisition - skills-based hiring, candidate matching, structured evaluation, bias reduction
- Workforce development - skills gap analysis, internal mobility, L&D program design, capability measurement
- Tools & technology - honest reviews and comparisons of HR tech, ATS platforms, and workforce development software
- Program management - employment program design, case management, outcome measurement, funder reporting
We aim to publish content that a senior HR professional or workforce development director would find genuinely useful - not content that exists to rank for keywords.
